Hydrogen carriers for clean hydrogen

Hydrogen carriers are mainly liquid hydrogen, MCH, and ammonia, which have characteristics that are different from one another. The development of hydrogen carriers is currently underway. JOGMEC will provide technical and financial support for the establishment of commercial clean fuel project.

Conversion of existing ｌow temperature LPG tanks for ammonia use

JOGMEC recognizes that securing storage facilities for decarbonized fuels is important for satisfying the domestic demand of 30 million ton fuel ammonia by 2050 to achieve a carbon-neutral society and believes that converting the many existing low temperature LPG tanks in Japan for ammonia use is an effective option. JOGMEC will utilize the accumulated knowledge on fuel storage and help resolve issues related to tank conversion by developing a procedure for converting existing low temperature LPG tanks for ammonia use and providing technical support to private companies.

Role of European Hydrogen Bank

The European Hydrogen Bank is a financial support mechanism for the creation of a renewable hydrogen market. It aims to promote the creation of a renewable hydrogen market through an approach based on competitive bidding and contracts for differences. The knowledge obtained through European Hydrogen Bank initiatives may impact global hydrogen policy.
