Clean Hydrogen/Ammonia Promotion Business

JOGMEC will promote the creation of new resources from hydrocarbons and the construction of its value chains with the goal of realizing a carbon-free society. We will expand technology development and project support with the goal of clean hydrogen/ammonia production alongside CCS and the construction of value chains (including supply to Japan), as a new form of a stable resource supply.

Message

Hydrogen and ammonia are essential forms of energy for the realization of a carbon neutral society. Neither emit CO2 during combustion, and there are high expectations for their use as clean energies in the next generation. When producing hydrogen and ammonia from hydrocarbons, such as natural gas, there is a need to capture the CO2 emitted during the process. JOGMEC is promoting CCS projects that store CO2 in the subsurface for long periods, and will utilize this technological base for clean hydrogen and ammonia business.
In addition, we have established the Carbon Neutral Promotion Headquarters and announced the “Carbon Neutral Initiative” consisting of three basic policies and a specific action plan to accelerate the overall initiatives of JOGMEC toward carbon neutrality.
